adelante en nuestra region para el empoderamiento de las Mujeres Afro.
Warm wishes to all from the Regional Coordinator of the Diaspora of the Network of Afrodescendetn Women of Latin America,
the Caribbean and the Diaspora. I reaach out to all of you with an update and a few questions to begin to develop a framework
for the Diaspora/Canada Region for the empowerment of Afrodescendent women.
Como todas saben, La Red es un espacio de articulacion y empoderamiento de las mujeres afro. Nuestra mision es luchar contra el
racismo, la discriminacion racial, el sexismo y la pobreza. La vision de la Red es desarrollar formas de organizacion transparente,
democratica, contando con liderazgos fortalecidos con capacidad incidentes y con alianzas efectivas.
As you may all know, the Red is a space of articulation and empowerment of Afrodescendent women for construction and recognition
of democratic societies,equitable, just multicultural, free of racism, racial discrimination, sexisn and exclusion. The vision of the Red is to
develop organizational transparency that is democratic and participatory, we count on leadership development, with a capacity to advocate
with effective collaborations.
Esto se concreto en Nuestra Asamblea General en Colon, Panama, del 26 al 30 de Abril del 2008.
Nuestra ultima comunicacion fue durante el planteamiento de la Asamblea. Espero que todas han llenado el formulario para ser miembras de la Red.

This was formalized at our General Assembly in Colon, Panama on April 26-30 of 2008. My last communication to all was during the preparation of the
Assembly. We hope that you have all filled out the form to become member of the Red. If you have not, please contact me.
La Asamblea General fue un gran exito. Tuvimos mas de 100 mujeres de todo Latino America y el Caribe y de la Diaspora. La delegacion de la
Diaspora fue pequena en numeros pero grande en energia y fuerte en la dedicacion al moviemiento de las mujeres Afrodescendientes.
The General Assembly was a succes. We had more than 100 women from Latin American the Craribbean and the Diaspora. The Diaspora delegation
was small in numbers but large in the dedication to the empowerement of Black women.

At the General Assembly, the following was decided . The general comission will hold for the next four years. We now have links in each country
for us in different states or areas of the country.

Each link reports to the Coordinator of the region. We have discussed roles and responsibilities. We can discuss in more detail as we begin to define our
work in our region.
Es importante que cada Region define sus enfoque dentro de la vision de la Red y de acuerdo con los logros y desafios que enfrentan las mujeres afro.
Este pais enfrenta una nueva ere con un Presidente Afro.
It is important that each Region define their focus within the vision of the Red and based on the succes and struggles faced by Black women.
